The work done to an asset, recorded so it can be counted.
A job card is the unit of work. What makes it useful later is that the close date is stamped by the system, the repair duration is derived rather than typed, and the costs are captured on the card itself.
What it does
Three work types
Preventive, corrective and modification. The type is what later separates planned from unplanned work in the analytics, so it is a first-class field rather than a note.
A close date the system stamps
Repair duration is derived from the start and the stamped close, not entered by hand. That is the difference between an MTTR you can defend and one you cannot.
Costs captured on the card
Spares, labour, rental, extra parts and third-party fixing cost are recorded against the job card, and they are what the cost trend and cost Pareto are built from.
Certification while the card is open
A certificate can be uploaded or generated from the card’s certification tab, including one certificate covering several pieces of equipment with per-asset expiry.
Reopen, with the authority to do it
A closed card can be reopened by a user who holds the reopen capability. Capability checks run at the endpoint, not only in the interface.
Maintenance history per asset
Every card an asset has been through, readable by anyone with view access to it.
The maintenance-due report
A filter-driven report of what is due, exportable to Excel alongside the certificate-expiry, maintenance-history and ready-to-go reports.
Work inherits the asset’s place in the organisation
A card opened against an asset takes the asset’s place in the organisation (its country, department, project or package node), so the work is filed where the equipment sits and the reliability numbers slice by the same dimension. Requiring the opener’s own scope to match the asset’s is part of the committed model and is not yet on the shipped surface.
How it fits the rest of the platform
Job cards reference equipment by id and never copy the equipment record. Closing one emits an event that the reliability read side turns into MTBF, MTTR and cost numbers, and that notifications turn into a feed item. Certificates raised during a card belong to inspection and certification, not to maintenance.
Questions about work orders
Is MTTR entered or calculated?
Calculated. The close date is stamped by the system and the duration is derived from it.
Can a maintenance card be closed without a certificate?
Yes. For certification it is the due date that matters, and an asset’s current certificate may still be valid when the card closes.
Are preventive-maintenance plans and running-hour meters available?
Working-hours readings are logged against equipment today. The recurring preventive plan that turns a reading or an interval into a due date is defined at the equipment Model level in the committed model and is not yet on the shipped surface; job cards, history and the maintenance-due report are.
